Let's Set Some AWESOME 2024 Family Adventure Goals

If you’d love to have more adventures with your family, now’s the time to begin! Here are some things to consider when setting your 2024 goals.

(First, make sure you’ve reflected on 2023 so you’re able to set really meaningful goals!)

What values do you want to prioritise this year?

E.g. relationships, health, finances, fun, education, hobbies…

How do you want to feel this year?

E.g. relaxed, unhurried, energetic, adventurous, fun, social, close to your family, unstressed, etc etc.

Pick a value, pick how you want to feel, and then think about what habits or actions you’ll need to get there.

E.g. If you want to prioritise having fun as a family, what would that look like? Is it a regular games night, beach weekends, camping trips, or an after-school ice cream once a week?

Sometimes a challenge is a really good motivator for getting started or giving you an idea. Having something you can measure, track and challenge yourself with can be a great way to stay motivated. Consider an official one like the 1000 Hours Outside challenge, or make your own. For example:

  • See a sunrise every month

  • Eat outdoors once a week

  • Visit every national park in your region/state/country

  • Hike to ten waterfalls

  • Learn to surf or skate

  • Go camping every month

  • See every full moon

  • Learn a new adventuring skill

  • Catch ten new species of fish

  • Try five new outdoor sports

  • Have friends over for dinner once a month

  • Visit all the states in your country

You get the point, these challenges are things you can tick off, photograph or document, and measure.

Maybe you’re not after something like that, and you’d prefer something less tangible. For example,

  • Spend more time together as a family

  • Have more fun outdoors

  • Make the most of the this season as a family

  • Declutter and stay more minimalist throughout the year

  • Limit driving time (e.g. say no to extra activities) and spend more time at home together

If you’ve reflected on the last year, consider what you want to see more of this year, and less of, and what worked/didn’t work with your previous goals. You want to give yourself the best chance for success.

Sounds like fun, right? Getting some ideas?

Let me know how you go! It’s going to be a FANTASTIC year.
